National Singles Week September 19-25, 2004. ItÂs Just Lunch Celebrate Singles.
SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2004
Just a decade ago, only 8% of U.S. singles admitted ever using a dating service. Times have changed. Today singles are taking more proactive steps to improve their dating lives. 48% of U.S. men and 52% of U.S. women have used a dating service to increase their odds of meeting someone. Women in Buffalo (69%), Chicago (67%), New Jersey (67%), San Diego (73%) and Wilmington, DE (75%) have all used a dating service to meet someone.
The sexes do agreeÂyou are not in an exclusive relationship until it has been discussed. ItÂs Just Lunch, the premier dating service for busy professionals with 65 locations worldwide, surveyed 3,968 singles nationwide and found that 70% of U.S. men and 82% of U.S. women agree that you are not in an exclusive relationship until it is discussed by both parties; however, 21% of U.S. men think this occurs in less than 4 dates.
Does money matter? The IJL survey found that women do care how much money their significant other makes. 88% of U.S. women find money to be very important in a relationship. On the other hand, 46% of men say it doesnÂt matter how much money their significant other makes.
Although men and women disagree on money, they do agree on one thingÂrelationships are more important than careers. 63% of U.S. men and 67% of U.S. women find a relationship to be more important than a career.
With over 110 million singles in the U.S., ItÂs Just Lunch recognizes National Singles week, September 19-25, 2004. ÂItÂs Just Lunch has been studying the pulse of single professionals throughout the country for 14 years, said Andrea McGinty, ItÂs Just Lunch founder. ÂWeÂve found that single professional men and women are interested in finding someone special and broadening their resources to make it happen.Â
Singles are taking other proactive steps to improve their dating lives. 63% of U.S. men have joined a gym in the hope of meeting someone, while only 37% of U.S. women joined a gym or went on a diet (36%) to improve their dating life. Only 3% of women have resorted to plastic surgery to attract that someone special.
Men are quick to judge on a first date. 68% of men in the U.S. would not go on a 2nd date if there was no chemistry on the first date, although there are regional differences: in Orlando and Charlotte, nearly 2/3 of men would give their date a second shot.
Women are willing to give it a second chance. 56% of U.S. women and 78% of East Coast women would go on a 2nd date and hope chemistry develops, however, Midwestern women just wonÂt waste their timeÂ67% say no to a 2nd date if there is no chemistry on the first date.
Men are all willing to bring their dates home to meet their family sooner than women. Nearly ½ of U.S. men (47%) would bring a date home to meet their family after 5 dates, while the vast majority of U.S. women (74%) would wait at least 10 dates. 56% of men in Raleigh-Durham, 68% of men in Los Angeles and 46% of men on the East Coast would wait for 11 dates before bringing their date home to meet the family.
Men are even quicker to introduce their date to their friends. 73% of U.S. men introduce their date to their friends in less than 4 datesÂcompared to only 11% of U.S. women. 48% of U.S. women prefer to wait until the 7th date to introduce their friends. Nearly 1/3 of women in Houston (31%) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (33%) say only 2 dates are necessary before introducing your date to your friends.
